UAE Announces 30-Day Grace Period for Overstay Fine Exemptions Until July 9

Dubai, June 19, 2026: The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a 30-day grace period for individuals affected by regional travel disruptions, allowing eligible visitors and residents to regularize their status or leave the country without paying overstay fines.

The relief period, which remains in effect until July 9, 2026, comes after flight cancellations and airspace restrictions disrupted travel plans for thousands of passengers across the region.

Who Is Eligible?

According to the ICP, the initiative applies to individuals who were previously granted exemptions from overstay penalties due to exceptional travel circumstances. Affected visitors and residents are encouraged to complete their procedures before the deadline.

No Separate Application Needed

Authorities have confirmed that eligible individuals do not need to submit any additional requests to benefit from the measure. Travelers can either adjust their visa status or depart the country during the grace period without incurring penalties.

Normal Overstay Fines Resume After July 9

Officials warned that regular overstay penalties will apply once the grace period ends. Under existing regulations, overstaying a visa in the UAE can result in fines of AED 50 per day.
